Site of the Week - Labor Project for Working Families Working Moms Blog, April 3, 2009

By Katherine Lewis

Working-class moms typically face the toughest work-life balance issues. When you're called in for mandatory overtime and you don't have child care, what do you do? Many parents lose their jobs over just that kind of situation.

That's why the Labor Project for Working Families, the About Working Moms Site of the Week, aims to put issues of work-life balance on the bargaining table and before policy makers.

Formed in 1992, the project advocates for paid sick days, child care funding and paid family leave. The site keeps readers abreast of the latest work-life news, produces fact sheets for use in negotiations and collects key facts about child care, family leave, elder care and other family-oriented topics.

I'll be interested to hear your feedback on the site!
