Job Sharing

American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 2505 and Executive Department of the State of Oregon: AFSCME Local 2505 bargained with the State of Oregon to allow any eligible employee to request approval to participate in job sharing. Employees sharing a job accrue vacation, sick leave and holiday pay on a pro rated basis. Two employees sharing a job are also entitled to share health insurance benefits for one full-time position on a pro-rated basis.

Harvard Union of Clerical and Technical Workers and Harvard University: The University supports job sharing as one example of a flexible work option. Any position in the bargaining unit is open to investigation as a job-share option. When a person job shares, that person is part of a team-two people share one job and are both responsible for the satisfactory performance of that job.

The Butte College Education Association, NEA, and The Butte Community College District: Butte College Education Association, NEA, and the Butte Community College District bargained a job sharing policy to provide greater flexibility for members. Based on mutual consent and the needs of the District, two employees from any discipline or area can share work at any percent rate including 50/50, 60/40 or even 70/40 or 80/50. Regardless of the total percent of worked performed by the job sharing team, the District only pays benefits for 100% or for one full-time position. However, if one partner chooses not to receive benefits, the other may receive the full benefits package.
