Expanding the Reasons for Taking Leave
American Federation of Government Employees and the Social Security Administration: AFGE and the Social Security Administration have a bargaining agreement to expand the Family and Medical Leave Act. Employees may take off up to 24 hours a year for school and early childhood activities such as parent-teacher conferences or participating in volunteer school activities, routine family medical appointments and elderly relatives' care needs.
