FMLA in Contract

United Auto Workers and DaimlerChrysler: The union negotiated with DaimlerChrysler to assure compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993. The union also won several expansions on the FMLA. For example, UAW members working at DaimlerChrysler who take FMLA leave continue to accrue seniority during the course of their leave as well as continued group, life and disability insurance. Members may substitute paid vacation time or excused absence allowance for unpaid FMLA leave if they choose, but are not required to use up their vacation/ excused absence time for unpaid FMLA leave.

Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild Local 35 and Bureau of National Affairs: The Newspaper Guild Local 35 bargained for an agreement under which the employer will abide by the provisions of the FMLA and FMLA/DC unless otherwise modified by the contract.
