Sick Time for Family Members

American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees District 84 Local 2719 & City of Pittsburg: AFSCME successfully negotiated a sick leave policy where an employee may take up to 5 days of accumulated sick leave each year where sickness in the immediate family requires the employee's absence from work.. The number of days increase with years of service (1-3 years = 7 days, 3-15 days = 15 days, 15-25 = 20 days, 25+ years = 26 days).

Harvard Union of Clerical and Technical Workers and Harvard University:
HUCTW, an AFSCME affiliate, negotiated with the university to allow members to use up to 12 of their own sick days each year to care for sick dependents.
