United Auto Workers & Michigan Blue Cross-Blue Shield: Blue Cross-Blue Shield agreed to sponsor a long term care (LTC) insurance product which employees may purchase at group rates through payroll deduction. Under an LTC policy, services are generally available to the employee, spouse and sometimes the parents or parents-in-law, to assist them in meeting needs such as adult day care, home health, skilled nursing care and custodial care. (Blue Cross-Blue Shield's LTC product is pending approval by the State Insurance Commissioner. If the product is not available within 24 months after ratification, the Joint Benefits Committee will begin looking at other products on the market.)
